MEADOW LANDS, PA, Dec. 1, 2008 Martys Charm surged past a game No Nonsense Yankee in the stretch, converting a pocket trip to victory in the $25,000 Preferred Handicap pace Monday at The Meadows.
No Nonsense Yankee discouraged all outside challengers, which afforded Martys Charm and Randy Tharps the option of tipping wide or using the Lightning Lane. They chose the outside path and scored in 1:54.2 over a track listed good, 1/2 length better than No Nonsense Yankee. Coldheartedrevenge was third.
The victory extended the outstanding season for the 4-year-old gelded son of Aces N Sevens-Bets Mae, who has won 12 of 25 starts after not racing at 2 or 3. Paul Corey trains Martys Charm for Martha and Gerald Baluck.
