MEADOW LANDS, PA, Nov. 13, 2008 Toms OK Lady, who dead-heated for win last week with Im Justa Lady, narrowly avoided a recurrence when she stuck her neck in front at the wire to capture the $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred trot Thursday at The Meadows.
As last week, Im Justa Lady fronted the mile and lead until the stretch. When Toms OK Lady peeled off cover and began to gain on her rival for Dave Palone, it looked like d骠 vu all over again. But Toms OK Lady prevailed in 1:57 over the sloppy going. B Vs Sister, returning from a five-week layoff, was a good third.
Ron Burke trains Toms OK Lady, a 5-year-old daughter of Inquirer-This Gals OK, for Sylvia Burke, Bethann Palone, M1 Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Elsewhere on the card, trotter Hes Mine Stratto won his 10th consecutive race, scoring handily in 1:57.3. The 7-year-old gelded son of Striking Sahbra-Name It Something began his streak as a $5,000 claimer but won today in a $10,000-$12,000 claiming handicap.
Palone, who enjoyed seven wins on the 15-race card, piloted for trainer Mario LaBrasca and owner Thomas Oliver.
